Mesir merancang untuk menyambung semula eksport gas pada Oktober
2023-07-25 14:18Egypt aims to resume liquefied natural gas exports in October at the start of the fall, Egyptian Oil Minister Tarek El Molla told reporters on Wednesday, according to a July 20 news release on the Gas Industry website.
He said that most of Egypt's production is consumed domestically during the warmer summer months, but there is excess production available for export during the winter months.
El Molla added that exports increased last summer as the government switched from using natural gas in power stations to using heavy fuel oil to counter the spike in gas prices.
He said,
The minister said earlier this month that Egypt did not export any liquefied natural gas (LNG) in June due to seasonal factors, adding that a shipment was expected in July.
But some trade sources told Reuters they believed the lack of shipments in June was a result of falling domestic production.
Egypt, the most populous Arab country, has been seeking to position itself as a regional energy hub, strategically positioned to supply its own natural gas and re-export Israeli gas in the form of LNG to the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
